Software Engineer - Summer Associate (MyUPMC)

Purpose:
Under the direction of management and members of the engineer team, the Software Engineer – Summer Associate will contribute to the overall Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) by completing projects and tasks alongside an existing Scrum team. The candidate will be able to expand their software engineering skills working on real-world healthcare problems in the patient engagement and digital front door space. 

The MyUPMC program consists of multiple software engineering disciplines, including cloud technologies (AWS), API design, backend architecture and coding (Java, Spring Boot), front end web technologies (Angular), multiple automation testing strategies and native mobile applications (Swift for iOS and Kotlin for Android).

We are looking for an energetic candidate that is looking to learn more about the software engineering space.  A successful candidate would be a self-starter with the willingness to learn from a team of seasoned engineers, however at the same time having the ability to contribute to the team during their time in the program. 

Responsibilities:

  • Working collaboratively within an existing team of software engineers
  • Diving into N-tier enterprise architecture patterns
  • Technical documentation research and publication to internal stakeholders
  • Adding value to the product through coding new features
  • Working within the healthcare space, specifically on the front lines of patient engagement
  • Working within an Agile environment
  • Willingness and flexibility to learn and work within multiple disciplines

Qualifications

• Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems Management, Information Technology, or related field students with December 2021 – May 2022 anticipated graduation date 
• Prior experience in software engineering or design a plus
• A cumulative GPA of at least 3.00 is strongly preferred, and preference will be given to candidates that have demonstrated leadership ability through their studies, employment, or extracurricular activities.
• Availability to participate as a Summer Associate full time, from June to August 2021 for approximately 10 weeks with minimal absence
