As a Translational Development leader, the individual will work closely with the Head of Portfolio Development & Translational Science leadership to identify, evaluate, develop a business-case for project proposals and enable informed decision making for investment. For funded proposals, they will work with both internal and external team members to oversee execution of agreed plan per approved timelines and budgets with the ultimate goal of de-risking and enhancing value for commercial partnerships or new company formation. For opportunities that require the formation of a new company, the Director will help with business-related startup activities, including the management of internal and external stakeholders contributing to the success implementation of the business plan.
This role primarily focuses on developing early stage assets or technologies that are 2-4 years from clinical entry. The Director has overall accountability for projects and is the point of contact for key stakeholders including executive management in TS Enterprises and the innovators/Principal Investigators. Experience in a core drug development discipline (e.g. toxicology, non-clinical or clinical pharmacology, business development, etc.), leading project teams in a research or translational function, and intelligence gathering/synthesis to evaluate business opportunities are core competencies.
MS at a minimum, PhD in life sciences or MD preferred
8 years of relevant professional experience in the life sciences or healthcare industry for MS or 5 plus years for PhD.
MBA or PMP certification is a plus
The successful candidate should have the demonstrated ability to independently tackle complex scientific and business problems
Demonstrated history of management, project planning and reporting, problem solving, organizational, and negotiation skills.
Demonstrated ability to communicate (both in writing and orally) complicated scientific or medical information to a broad audience including scientific experts, business professionals and C-Level executives.
