This position will organize information and data in a way to help programmers, analysts, and health care professionals to gain insights from complex and heterogeneous health data for improved decision making.
This position will provide markup of clinical text to be used in evaluating clinical information extraction systems. The data analysis professional will analyze and assess the annotation requirements for projects and recommend the appropriate annotation solutions and sources to fill those needs. Additionally, the data analyst can be put into service to get representative data samples. Finally, this position will require communication with team members and other internal departments.
Create annotations on unstructured clinical notes based on needs of the project, ensuring that all activities are executed with a high level of focus on quality/accuracy and on continually improving derived data and associated processes.
Establish plans and objectives for maintaining data integrity, through-out its lifecycle, across multiple system environments.
This position is ultimately responsible to address the organization's need for accurate, timely and thoughtful data analysis work using the resources within the organization
As a project needs access to data to solve an issue, the data analyst will be responsible to plan and execute the necessary steps to propose a solution to get the appropriate data.
Participation in the Informatics group Kanban process, with appropriate attention paid to grooming, prioritization, definition of ready, definition of done.
The data analyst is responsible to document and markup the data and sources in a way that can be executed on by an engineering group.
Able to own individual user stories, but will typically need assistance on more complex topics.
As this position feeds the scrum process for the engineering teams, delivery of the work in a timely manner and at a high quality is paramount. Estimation of work effort and drive to complete on time is necessary.
Ability to work cooperatively and constructively with many other teams and roles. Be a problem solver.
Participates in implementation discussions as needed
Acts as an advisor on error analysis

Knowledge of health care finance (billing codes) and operations, healthcare industry standards, regulations, and guidelines strongly preferred.
Prior experience with EPIC, CERNER, Imaging or healthcare financial data a major plus.
Strong understanding of clinical/medical terminologies and/or clinical coding strongly preferred.
Knowledge of standard practices for development of gold standard data, NLP annotation tools, NLP evaluation techniques including performance measures, ROC analysis, and error analysis is a plus.
