Job Description/Summary/Objectives: 

UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside seeks a Senior Designer in Allegheny County, PA. to serve as a member of the application & analytics team responsible for the research, design, and testing of new software applications to be used in the field of healthcare and quality improvement. Participate in the full lifecycle of the product, from concept, creation, and design, through product release. Work to improve different aspects of quality improvement, including developing software that allows for the display and interpretation of medical records. Identifying the optimal creative process and level of dependability for the customer. Use ethnographic design research methods to develop qualitative insights that impact projects, products, and strategy. Conduct primary and secondary research to explore trends, perspectives, and applications in the field (including market research, stakeholder interviews, contextual inquiry/ethnographic observation, etc.). Define and predict trends in health care it and related industries. Support innovation and commercialization through focused, rapid efforts to describe, shape, interpret, prototype, and evaluate emerging product, company, or partnership ideas. Ensure products address the needs of users and customers while also conforming to business and technical requirements. Deliver top-quality, innovative, cohesive deliverables that are customer-focused, simple, and intuitive. Telecommuting permissible.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications and Licensure/Certification:

-Master’s degree in design, Human Centered Design or related field (i.e., Human Computer Interaction, Information Science, Industrial Design, Communication/Graphic design, Cognitive Psychology, Interaction Design, Human Factors or other)

-Must have 6 months of product design and development experience including
• applying detailed HCD principles and processes;
• leading design solutions for unfamiliar domains with new information architecture, interaction flow and behavior patterns;
• employing qualitative and quantitative research, analysis and synthesis methods; and
• using HCD methods, including ethnographic or contextual research, concept generation, prototyping, usability studies, information architecture and interaction design.
