Business Analyst

Job Purpose 

 

The Business Analyst will work closely with UPMC Enterprises’ management by providing strong controllership and financial monitoring over UPMC Enterprises’ Portfolio Companies.  The Business Analyst will also support the Portfolio Company management teams by assisting with book-keeping, financial modeling, and the completion of other various ad-hoc requests.

 

Responsibilities  

 

  • Interprets financial transactions and events for users who must make economic or business decisions
  • Develops financial reports for budgeting, forecasting and results analysis
  • Fills finance and accounting roles at portfolio companies as needed
  • Develops analyses and reports to support Enterprises management
  • Acts as a liaison between UPMC shared services and individual portfolio companies
  • Assists in the month-end close and annual budgeting processes
  • Prepares reconciliation of actual to budget variance analysis
  • Drives continued business intelligence to understand market forces, size of opportunity, addressable market, profit drivers, differentiators needed to create winning solutions
  • Provides a perspective and proposes a solution to identified problems
  • Assesses the operational and functional requirements of an organization
  • Supports coaching and development of other team members ad hoc on business development skillset
  • Performs all above in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience

  • MBA or CPA is preferred

  • Ability to prepare and present financial statements

  • Ability to post journal entries and understand the impact of the respective debits and credits

  • Ability to prepare clear and concise workpapers

  • Excellent problem solving, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and communication skills (both oral and written)

  • Excellent writing and editing skills

  • Competent in MS Office and PC skills

  • Proven ability to meet time sensitive deadlines and commitments
