Job Purpose:

The Business Analyst [BA] acts as a bridge between the customer using Prodigo's products and the technical development team. In this role, it is critical that the BA has an excellent practical understanding of the variety of business problems faced by our customers and Prodigo's technology concepts, development methodology and capabilities.  The BA will act as a consultant to make our customers more effective through the proper use of Prodigo's technology; as well as, will thoroughly understand the customer's requirements to define the enhancements required to fill gaps identified between our customer's requirements and Prodigo's current feature set.


The BA needs to be able to work effectively in a matrix organization using excellent communication skills to understand the customer's business requirements and translate those requirements into a comprehensive Requirements document and/or business case.  The analyst job is "to get close to the customer".  To be truly effective, the analyst must understand our customers' businesses, know their pain points, their needs and how our products align with their strategic objectives.  This full understanding is necessary to be able to adequately represent the voice of the customer and convey their requirements to the Development team. 


  • Develop and maintain proficiency in the company's software-as-a-service solutions, implementation methodologies and core technologies.
  • Gather requirements using interviews, data analysis, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analytic methodology, task and workflow analysis.
  • Gather and analyze customer data to build a sustainable Path to Value for our customers; including success criteria, opportunities for improvement and key performance indicators.
  • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true business needs.
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver the following artifacts as needed: Business Cases, Business Requirements Document, Customer Use Cases and Acceptance Criteria
  • Utilize your experience to understand enterprise-wide requirements and management systems
  • Develop work process mapping methodologies as required
  • Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Work independently with users to define concepts and under direction of project managers
  • Drive and challenge business units on their assumptions of how they will successfully execute their plans
  • Strong analytical and business acumen is required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application, technical and operational requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts
  • Serve as the conduit between the customer community (internal and external customers) and the product development team through which requirements flow
  • Develop requirements according to standard templates, using natural language
  • Collaborate with product analysts, developers and subject matter experts to represent the voice of the customer, the product vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability, performance needs and development costs
  • Ensure the final application meets the requirements
  • Provide documentation to Sales, Client Services and Support teams to ensure that there is a common understanding of the Prodigo Product Roadmap, priorities and features contained in each product release
  • Where required, be a liaison between the business [customer voice], product analysts, technology teams and support teams
  • This position will act as the primary liaison between the sales organization, Client Services and Development resources to manage communication of appropriate project information between clients and Prodigo resources.
  • For new clients, the Business Analyst will support the Sales process to ensure that the scope defined is properly framed and communicated with the customer ahead of contract as documented in the Scope of Work.  These items include, but are not limited to: 
    • Cleary identified deliverables, division of work, project milestones, reporting requirements and success criteria 
    • Identification of additional professional service opportunities with clients 
    • Identifies project risks, assumptions, constraints and reviews these findings with customer and implementation teams


Educational/Knowledge Requirements: 
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related business field (computer science, information systems, etc.) or comparable Masters degree and/or experience.
  • Prior experience with product development, understanding Product Development methodology, writing requirements documents and writing software user manuals is required
  • 3 - 6 years professional experience in a business analyst role.
  • Operates semi-independently with project direction from lead/supervisor 2-3x/week.
  • Understands and applies basic Prodigo values and code of conduct.
  • Interacts with others in an open, honest, collaborative, and reliable manner.
  • Is visually and verbally articulate. Able to contribute in interactive group development sessions.
